This is the second consecutive year we are eliminated from the Pickwick T20 competition on Saturday. The team has a compensated winning the CSPL 40 over game played on Sunday at Bout du Monde against “rival” friends GCC.
By winning the 4th CSPL game, GESLCC secured their the path to play the CSPL quarter final. However, there will be another two games to play prior to that.
The GESLCC captain won the toss and decided to bat first with home advantage. Opener Krishanta in his magnificent innings, he batted beautifully and scored 132 runs in 123 balls with 12 boundaries and 5 sixes. He was caught behind the wicket. Dugal was retired hurt at 10 runs.
The second higher scorer was Roshan. He was aggressive in his approach and scored 54 runs in 46 balls. 3×4,3×6,and joseph, Mithusan, idrees contributed 16, 12, and 13 runs put GESLCC in a strong position.
The second half started after the the lunch break. Both team players enjoyed the Sri Lanka curry at lunch.
The neutral umpire Yeti Sing was not well for awhile and game was interrupted for 15 to 20 before resuming.
The First wickets fell at 44 runs partnership by Ansar & Vinod caught by Krishanta w/K bowler idrees. GCC players found it hard to stand another partnership with the GESLCC bowling attack. Ravi took 4 wickets in 30 runs in his 5 overs. Lalantha took 2 wickets – his best figure in the season (4-13-2 ).
The other bowlers has taken one each to complete the innings within 32 over and won the match by 96 runs. This lead GESLCC to a strong position in a CSPL league table and was assured into the quarter final stage.

“Fielding is the main weak point to us. We have to improve a lot in fielding. Specially in back up and walkup. Some fielders are not aware of fielding positions and rotations after every overs. So I suggest before we start our next round it’s better if we have one special day only for fielding practice with the full team”.
