I take this opportunity to welcome those who are yet to become members to our Geneva Sri Lanka Cricket Club (GESLCC) for the summer of 2015 cricket season. The GESLCC is well known to cricket lovers as well as being one of the most popular cricket clubs in Switzerland. The club actively participates in various league matches and championships organized by the recognized cricket bodies in Switzerland.
I am proud to announce that our club has won the Swiss championship five times since 1982. We have organized tournaments and tours all over the world; three times to Sri Lanka, and annual weekend tournaments in Portugal, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, and France. We have also hosted many cricket teams from other countries on numerous occasions.
The 32 year old GESLCC is vibrant, active, and forward looking. We are currently developing youth, women’s cricket in addition to the regular T20 competitions. Confronted by many challenges, our club is successfully meeting our goals during a time of global change in the world of cricket. It is our club’s pride to transform the way we operate to improve our playing continuously. I am confident that our members are very proud of where we are today and are highly enthusiastic about where we are heading.
I would like to thank each of you for your unwavering support to GESLCC since its inception and bringing multitude of skills necessary to our diverse team. I have the confidence that you, as playing members, are well equipped with the knowledge and the experience to help new players in paving the way into the future. Needless to say, our team members are our greatest asset we have today and tomorrow, and our club could not accomplish what we have done in the past without your benevolent support and dedication. My personal gratitude, appreciation, and thanks to all.
On behalf of the Geneva Sri Lanka Cricket Club, I would also like to thank Ville de Genève for their generous continuous support by allocating the ground “Bout du monde” for cricket, every season.
