The GESLCC middle order steady batting performance helped win both matches against XI Stars CC (A & B), played last Sunday at Onex.

GESLCC beat both XI STARS CC A&B teams to reach the Pickwick semi finals last Sunday at their home grounds in Onex. The semi finals will be played on Sunday 20th August at Schonau.

The both matches were played over a friendly atmosphere. The first match XI stars T20 captain Raja Haffis won the toss and batted first to score 158 runs within the allocated 20 overs with a loss of 9 wickets. Vipin scored 44 runs while Kuldeep 23, and Homayun 30 runs.

Mounir and Nelson chased the winning runs to beat the XI stars by 5 wickets. Mounir was 36 not out and Nelson was 3 not out. The highest scorer of the match was Uddika with a fabulous 56 including 4x6s and 4x4s. Captain Zarook contributed 13 runs and got out for L.B.W while the Vice Captain Majuran scored 18 runs caught by Kuldeep. Sanjeeva 12, and Lalantha 10 runs helped reaching the target score of 159.

The second match of the day start at 3.30PM. GESLCC captain Zarook won the toss and batted first. GESLCC scored 202 runs in 20 overs with a loss of 7 wickets. The Onex grounds condition did not help to setup good fielding positions. However, in both games, GESLCC fielding and bowling could have been better.

Uddika scored 52 runs 7×4, and 1×6 and was caught at mid-on by Zaif. The second highest scorer was Zarook with an unbeaten 36 who played with an excellent batting and fielding performance. It was quite evident that during Zarook’s captaincy during the T20 games, GESLCC won all the 6 matches in qualification round. The club management is very happy with his team enrollment and his excellent captaincy in general. We wish him and the team ‘Bon continuation’ with the many more matches to come, particularly during the semifinals.
